Route description

You will start your journey to the top of Sněžka at the bus stop in Špindlerův Mlýn by boarding a bus that will take you to Špindlerův Bouda. From the car park at Špindler's Hut you will follow the red trail along the northern foot of Malý Šišák to Polední kamen, also known as Slonecznik. On the way around the northern foot of the Silver Ridge you will have the opportunity to admire the Wielky and Maly Staw lakes, and from the viewpoints you will have a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. You will pass the former Prince Henry's hut and continue to the crossroads at the former Giant's Hut, from where you will make the final ascent to the top of Sněžka.

The climb up Sněžka to a height of 1603.3 metres above sea level can be challenging, but you will be rewarded with a unique sense of achievement and the joy of the view from the top. You can admire the beautiful views. You can see the Polish side of the Giant Mountains, the Sudetes, Studniční hora, Luční hora, Medvědín, in short everything that the weather allows you.

After descending to the crossroads near the former Giant's Hut, you will follow the blue trail across the Úpa peat bog towards Luční Bouda. Here you can rest, taste the local beer Paroháč from the Luční Bouda brewery and, fortified, head back to Špindlerův Mlýn with the peak of Sněžka at your back, this time following the blue trail through the White Elbe Valley.

Not only does the trip offer physical exertion, but climbing Sněžka is a great way to escape the everyday hustle and bustle while enjoying the beautiful views and fresh mountain air.

Noon Stone

It is a 12 m high granite rock on the northern slope of the Silver Ridge, which serves as a distinctive landmark. It got its name because the sun can be seen directly above it from the Polish side of the Giant Mountains at noon. That's why it began to be called Słonecznik in Polish and Polední kámen in Czech. Near the stone there is an old stone bench, which is said to have been preserved here from the time of the first conquerors of the Krkonoše Mountains. From the top you can see the Sosnowka dam in Poland.
