Ice climbing - ice wall
Popis
An interesting type of winter sport is gaining more and more popularity - ice-skiing.
The very popular natural ice wall is located in the Labský dol in the protected zone of the Krkonoše National Park and you will need a permit and registration to visit the icefall. The registration is used to reserve a place for a selected day, is free of charge and is not transferable to other persons. Registration can be done as early as 14 days in advance from the current date.
The ice wall is located at the end of the Be Fit route in the Labský dol near Špindlerův Mlýn. As this is a single location and in the heart of a national park, this activity is limited. The daily number of users is limited to 16 people due to the small size of the icefall and to maintain reasonable use of the site, which will also remain in its natural character, i.e. without any landscaping. The climbing area consists of a rock about 20 m high, located in Labský dol on the right bank of the Elbe River at the end of the groomed Buď fit cross-country ski trail (blue trail leading from Špindlerův Mlýn to Labský dol). The ice wall in Labský dol is covered by an icefall that is several cm to tens of cm thick. The area of the climbing sector varies according to the current ice thickness.
The icefall in Labský dol is not intended for those who just want to try climbing with hoes without professional supervision. For these people, we recommend using the artificial ice walls in the Krkonoše huts or in other locations.
Winter climbing activities are permitted by the KRNAP administration in Labský dol until 2025.
